Call Planning grant for international proposal 2024

Important results from the project

To develop and submit a competitive application to the first call for proposals from the European Partnership FutureFoodS; ´Transforming Food Systems - reshaping food system interactions, fostering food innovations and empowering sustainable food choices´. WWF Sverige is coordinator, Nordregio leads the work package on policy accelerators and Organic Sweden leads communications. The support enabled partnerships, method development and the establishment of a consortium. The Proposal has a clear focus on system change, young people´s co-creation and sustainable governance of the food system.

Expected long term effects

The pilot study laid the foundation for an international collaboration that can drive structural changes in the food environments of schools and municipalities. By building on experiences from SchoolFood4Change and Nordregio´s research on policy tools for healthy and sustainable food environments, the project is expected to contribute to more coordinated policy efforts, scaling of working solutions and lasting improvements in the eating habits of children and young people.

Approach and implementation

The project focused on consortium formation, review of research literature, workshops for concept development and application writing. The follow-up project focuses on mapping food environments around schools to identify barriers and opportunities for sustainable and healthy food choices. Through local intervention labs and national accelerator groups, solutions are developed with young people, schools, municipalities and decision-makers to scale up and connect to policy development.
