TRACE - Technology ReAdiness Process for Consumer Electronics in Automotive Applications

Reference number
Coordinator RISE IVF AB - Avdelningen Material
Funding from Vinnova SEK 11 360 000
Project duration April 2016 - October 2019
Status Completed
Venture Eureka cluster co-funding

Purpose and goal

The purpose of the TRACE project was to prepare the automotive industry for potential problems when using new technologies based on electronics from the consumer market in vehicles. The project has resulted in increased knowledge in new technologies used in AD/ADAS, AI and sensors. New methodologies to assess reliability has been developed in the project and new failure mechanisms have been investigated.

Expected results and effects

The project has contributed to increased knowledge at the participating partners in a technology area on the rise. Mostly with in areas such as electronics packaging, reliability and hardware for AD/ADAS, AI and sensors for the future automotive applications. The project has also contributed to an increased competitiveness for Swedish companies, institutes and universities by the visibility, participation and demonstration of technological excellence in a European context.

Planned approach and implementation

TRACE is a large project which led to slow progress in the beginning. Since the work was divided into smaller groups it has worked well. The collaboration within the Swedish consortium has worked well throughout the project. I many cases where other, European partners has not been able to deliver, we have solved the problems within the Swedish consortium. To concentrate the work around a Swedish demonstrator has been a success factor. The collaboration between different WPs has worked well.
