Important results from the project
The project achieved its objectives by introducing strategic foresight in the municipality to drive the development of sustainable mobility. Through collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders, trends, signals, and future scenarios were identified, linking mobility to health, safety, and climate impact. Additionally, a future prototype describing mobility in Helsingborg 2040 was developed that continuously evolves as more city residents interact with it.
Expected long term effects
The project has strengthened Helsingborg´s foresight capabilities, and the lessons learned provide a foundation for the long-term integration of foresight into operational planning and strategic innovation efforts. The identified signals, future scenarios, digital platform and future prototype will continue to be used to gather insights into barriers and opportunities for sustainable mobility, thus supporting strategic decision-making in urban planning and mobility.
Approach and implementation
The project followed a proven process and methodology to identify relevant trends and signals of change. These insights laid the foundation for the co-creation of future scenarios and the development of the digital tool that generates the future prototype. Collaboration with various stakeholders from the municipality, local non-profits, and authorities took place through a series of workshops and complementary activities, maintaining an agile and exploratory approach throughout the process.
