Reference number
Coordinator Lunds universitet - LU Open Innovation
Funding from Vinnova SEK 400 000
Project duration August 2014 - August 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Initially, the purpose of the agenda was to act as a steering document generating a national platform (SIO) based on the strength of Swedish research and industry. Also highlighting value chain in electricity-based economy in order to promote innovations and Swedish industrial exports. As no further SIOs are to be initiated, the purpose of this document, is to express a mutual view on how we efficiently can utilise electricity in Swedish in a climate-neutral community by 2050. It also points in which direction efforts in development and innovation must be made archiving this goal.

Results and expected effects

This document is intended to work as referens document in the debate of Swedish industrial development in the electricity-based economy at all levels. The outcome will hopefully be used as a part of the basis for a long-term national strategy by applying the entire social structure to achieve a vision of zero net emissions. We believe that this document can help to point out the challenges Sweden are faced with, what to do and how to get there as the infrastructure built today will still be relevant in 2050.

Approach and implementation

We have worked in an open process and invited stakeholders in the triple helix structure as well as interest groups as the WWF and Greenpeace to participate. In the work led by LTH (Lund Faculty of Engineering) we have concluded a document, Delba 2050, containing a national consensus related to the field of electricity-based economy from the academia and industry.
