Purpose and goal

A testbed with the purpose to develop, test and implement innovative ideas within the elderly care was to be established in the City of Malmö. The aim of the project was to establish a testbed with innovative solution and a business model. Testbed for the elderly care has been established by the City of Malmö, Forum for Social Innovation Sweden, Malmö University and Medeon. The testbed has a working structure, a constant flow of incoming innovative ideas and solutions, and is implemented and financed by the City of Malmö.

Expected results and effects

´Testbed for the elderly care´ is now part of the city organisation of Malmö and is coordinated by the City Executive Office. Businesses and other innovators can now continue to develop and test new solutions and needs-driven innovations in practice, in the regular housing, with users such as patients and personnel in health and social care, which is in accordance with the expected results. The testbed has become a new arena that is open to ideas and collaboration between industry, academia, civil society, care-users, relatives and health and social care in the city of Malmö.

Planned approach and implementation

The project was led by an intersectional steering group. Coordinated by a project leader in cooperation with business developers, project team, and admins. Reference persons have been part of the operations. Operational work has been carried out by the relevant administrations and users. In addition to testing and development of ideas, activities to promote the culture of innovation in health care have been performed. Activities have involved businesses, researchers, students, service-users, relatives, staff, politicians and municipal care-givers, civil society.
