Purpose and goal

The project aims to develop new models for responsibility allocation and standardization between public transport authorities and operators. The goal is to enable improved passenger information through more efficient workflows, long-term collaboration with partners, and cost-effective, flexible agreements. These results will then be shared with the public transport sector to maximize benefits and ensure scalability.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to create conditions for a potential shift in responsibility that can be carried forward into upcoming procurements, enabling more flexible contracts with greater scope for innovation. This paves the way for more efficient traffic information, enhances passenger benefits in Västra Götaland, and lays the foundation for increased public transport use, climate benefits, and national dissemination of results via Svensk Kollektivtrafik.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is led by IUS Innovation with a steering group from Västtrafik and Svensk Kollektivtrafik. It begins with an analysis of obstacles and needs, followed by the development of guidelines and directives for upcoming procurement processes. Progress is validated by the steering group, and results are shared with the industry through Svensk Kollektivtrafik.
