Purpose and goal
The project aimed to compile state-of-the-art concerning the use of ICT, its effects on and potential for the area of public transport and areas in need of further research.
Results and expected effects
The four state-of-the-art reports describe ICT from a traveller´s perspective (use, benefit, experience), from a planning perspective (mobility, accessibility) and from an innovation perspective (digital infrastructure, potential, trends). This knowledge can be disseminated to and put to use by both researchers and practitioners in the planning and development of systems for transportation/mobility of people. The reports have also identified a number of areas where knowledge is lacking.
Approach and implementation
The state-of-the-art reports are the result of information retrieval through various databases and information sources, and the collective knowledge and experience of the five parties which together form the node for public transport research: Design & Human Factors at Chalmers University of Technology; Human Geography and Applied IT, Gothenburg University; SAMOT at Karlstad University and the Viktoria Institute.
