Purpose and goal
SALSS 2014 brought together over 150 international investors, companies, and researchers. Chronic diseases that affect an aging population were debated in the panel ´Living with Disease´. Stem cell research and regenerative medicine were discussed in the panel ´Aging and Regenerative Research´. Nine larger and nine smaller companies held presentations to a group of international investors. Capital from abroad was paired with Swedish innovation. SALSS 2014 improved the knowledge exchange between investors, scientists, and corporations.
Results and expected effects
SALSS improves the knowledge exchange between Sweden and the rest of the world. SALSS increases the understanding of Swedish companies. SALSS increases the interest for Swedish innovation. SALSS has developed into an international meeting where investors and scientists invest in Swedish companies. Herein, SALSS secures Swedish and international capital for Swedish corporations. SALSS attracts CEOs and management teams of big pharma in Sweden and from abroad. SALSS also generates substantial business for Sweden every year.
Approach and implementation
The Project Leader of SALSS invited speakers, booked facilities, and was responsible for the budget of SALSS. The Project Leader worked full time from January to September 2014. SALSS Steering Committee presented a strategy for SALSS 2014. The Chairman of SALSS supervised the planning and the execution of the Summit. The Chairman and the Steering Committee decided on the themes, attracted sponsors, and formulated sponsorship agreements. The Summit took place from August 20 to 22, 2014 in Stockholm. SALSS featured panel debates, company presentations, and networking sessions.
