Important results from the project

The purpose of this project has been to study the potential for three-dimensional, self-supporting woven structures to be used as an environmentally friendly sound-absorbing product. The goal of the idea is to overcome the disadvantages of existing solutions: resource-intensive processes, material combinations that hinder circular material processes and in many cases undesirable aesthetic expression.

Expected long term effects

In the project, a concept consisting of a self-supporting product with low weight developed in a resource-efficient process has been developed. The concept has been presented to several potential stakeholders, customers and end users in various forums. The feedback confirms that the expected result meets the needs that exist for sound absorbers on the market; flexibility, aesthetics and environmental eligibility requirements. A number of partners have shown themselves willing to further develop the concept in further work.

Approach and implementation

A needs and market analysis has been carried out based on previous contact networks and via new forums. Furthermore, a current situation and competition analysis for sound absorbers have been compiled. Future material supply and production processes have also been studied different types of products have been developed at fabric manufacturers in Sweden to verify the process feasible. The analysis of your work shows that there is a potential to develop the product further towards the eligibility requirements and needs that are set.
