Important results from the project
The project achieved its main technical and collaborative goals. It delivered AI- and robot-assisted concepts for automated inspection, addressing gaps in current manufacturing practice. The developed solutions support objective tool condition assessment across different industrial scales and enable improved dialogue, CRM reuse strategies, and data-driven decision making between material producers and tooling suppliers.
Expected long term effects
In the longer term, the project strengthens both SME and academic partners by building shared infrastructure and methods beyond the immediate technical goals. It supports efficient problem solving under limited R&D resources, enhances laboratory capabilities, and improves understanding of how AI and robotics can be practically applied in esteblished manufacturing, aligning research more closely with industrial needs.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out through close collaboration between SME, a large industrial partner, and academic institution in Sweden and Germany. By exchanging materials, knowledge, and concepts, the partners complemented each other’s expertise, enabling both joint and individual developments while broadening technical understanding across related domains, especially in the domains on manufacturing, AI and robotics.
