Purpose and goal

The purpose with AccuDrill is to develop a solution to detect drillhole deviation in near real-time using advanced AI and digital signal processing. The solution will identify when deviation occurs and recommends optimized drill parameters to minimize hole deviation and improve drilling accuracy.

Expected effects and result

• Increased accuracy in drilling by hole deviation and control through near real-time deviation detection and recommendation of updated drill settings. That leads to improvements in blasting, fragmentation, ore recovery and dilution control. • Increased safety, sustainability and circularity in drilling by using innovate drill bits and deviation resistance drill strings, that leads to reduction in CO2 emissions, cost of drilling, cost of tool consumption.

Planned approach and implementation

The project develops, tests, and validates an innovative drill monitoring system to improve drilling accuracy and sustainability. Controlled laboratory drilling experiments are conducted on large rock samples to collect reliable data on drilling performance and hole deviation. The dataset will be used to develop an AI/ML-based model to predict and correct hole deviation. The model will be tested and refined under real mining conditions.
