Suspension of nanomaterials - A new manufacturing process to reduce environmental impact

Reference number
Coordinator Högskolan Väst - Institutionen för ingenjörsvetenskap
Funding from Vinnova SEK 3 000 000
Project duration November 2011 - November 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The project´s goal and objective have been fulfilled. The project contributes to greener technologies in both the manufacturing process and the use of the end-product. The results of the project have been published with different occasions at conferences, seminars and in scientific journals. The project has interacted well with education. Four project works and two diploma thesis works have been carried out within the project. Results from the project are included in two PhD student works (which will graduate in 2013) and have contributed to promotion of an associate professor.

Results and expected effects

Five coating technologies have been developed in the project which all showed better functional performances than state-of-art used today in industry. Results of the project have been implemented at the project´s industrial partners and are used also in a Vinn-Verifiering project in order to implement them at other Swedish industrial companies. Collaboration between researchers have been developed both nationally and internationally and will be used in further projects. The project has led to two spin-off projects in progress at the HV and three planned research projects.

Approach and implementation

The project consisted of five main activities AP 1 Technical specifications and materials development AP 2 Sample spraying AP 3 Indicative evaluation and model development ap 4 Evaluation of specific properties and process window AP 5 Industrialization and dissemination of research. The project development and results showed that both the sequence and the length of the work-packages were appropriately planned and dimensioned. The research questions formulated and defined in the project proposal have been actual and valid during the whole length of the project.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
