Important results from the project
The project group at CBAS have focused on evaluating the needs of elderly Baha- users, to ascertain which factors are important to consider when developing or upgrading Information and Communication Technology (ICT) such as websites and Apps, that can help increase the independent use of hearing and hearing implants. Some upgrades of the App have already been accomplished (upgrade of icons and data logging) whereas later results have been compiled to form the basis for coming upgrades. Further, data logging, remote contact with audiologists and a setup guide have been evaluated.
Expected long term effects
Results: - Upgrade of data logging in the App - Upgrade of program icons in the App - Basis for new features in the App - Basis to improve usability and usefulness in the App - Basis to improve the setup guide to the App - Indications for different needs between target groups (CI-users and Baha-users) Expected impact: - A more useful and usable App after upgrade - A more usable setup guide after update - An increase in elderly users of the App after adjustments of both App and setup guide
Approach and implementation
It has been a regular contact between all project partners in the SHiEC project and also a possibility to have informal meetings for discussions and questions appearing during the project. All participants have contributed and a lot of significant discussions have been held, leading the project forwards. Since it was apparent early on in the project that Baha-users and CI-users have different needs, the work at CBAS proceeded to evaluate and upgrade an existing App whereas the other project partners continued focusing on the development of a prototype for a digital health platform.
