Project duration December 2013 - December 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The first aim of the project was to produce large quantities of different lignin products that was sent to other companies and organisations for evaluation. The second was to find one or several partners for the commercialisation of the project and the third was to design the process so that it should be as easy as possible to integrate in the pulp mill. Optimisation of the process parameters in order to change the quality of the product and optimise the process was also a part of the aims.

Results and expected effects

We have been able to initiate a collaboration with one or several companies that have shown interest in our process, as a consequence of this project. This has enabled us to construct a small demonstration plant for the production of lignin containing products that has a market value. The demonstration plant will give valuable information for the design of full-scale processes in the future.

Approach and implementation

The project has been divided in three main sub-projects. The first aimed at the production of large quantities of lignin products with different qualities. These were sent to different companies and organisations for evaluation. The second was to find collaboration partners for the project and the third was to design the process in order to fit different pulp mills. This was performed in close collaboration with different pulp mill operators in order to optimize the integration of the process to existing pulp mills.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
