Purpose and goal

The project aims at a plan and vision for a technology-focused cluster of excellence that aims to strengthen research and innovation in fundamental technologies that are necessary for bulk power transmission. This applies to, for example: New materials for power components such as power semiconductors, cables and transformers. Development of new power components that can withstand higher loads and higher efficiency. Systems technology including modeling, analysis and control of power systems

Expected effects and result

The project will deliver results along three dimensions. First, an in-depth vision of technologies and technology areas required for large-scale power transmission. Second, an analysis and mobilization of the actors that are necessary to realize the vision. Finally, a plan for the types of activities that are necessary for the actors to together be able to realize the vision.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is implemented in several parallel work streams that all focus on the three deliverables described above. These are mobilization of actors, collaboration with complementary initiatives, establishment of international visibility and outlook, and concrete development of the technology vision for the area.
