Purpose and goal

1.To produce a strategic research and innovation agenda for manufacturing in Sweden. An agenda that is built on the previous two agendas in manufacturing as wel as harmonizes the need of Swedish R&D and innovation in production with EU´s industry research programs. 2. To form a strong core group with broad networks to research institutes, academy and industry in Sweden and abroad. 3. To strengthen collaborations between academy, research institutes and industry in Sweden, increase competitiveness in manufacturing industry, secure jobs and contribute to growth and welfare.

Results and expected effects

1. The result is an agenda that envisions production in Sweden 2030. The agenda has prioritized actions in research, innovation and education. 2. A core group with wide support from Swedish academy, research institutes and industry with extensive national and international networks has been formed. 3. Priorities and actions in order to increase competitiveness of production in Sweden has been made.

Approach and implementation

The task of producing a Strategic Agenda for production started in August 2012 and ended in April 2013. During this time, four open workshops with different target groups have been organized. The core group has also met with 14 other agendas. The process manager and the core group has also participated in Vinnovas information meetings as well as a large number of workshops organized by other agendas. The core group has been meeting weekly and has conducted international benchmark. The core group has also visited colleges, intstitutes and manufacturing companies in Sweden and in Germany.
