Purpose and goal
The overall aim is to analyze the potential and needs of standardization in underwater technology, in order to improve the conditions for product development of new measurement methods, autonomous crafts and systems, and resource-efficient private and public procurement of services in the subsea sector.
Expected results and effects
By clarifying how the regulations and standards today relate to each other, as well as identifying where the gaps exist, the market opens up for more new and smaller stakeholders (SME), while clearer product and service adjustments would facilitate the innovation process through a clearer requirement picture. In a broader perspective, standardization can also increase resource efficiency and ensure maximum benefit from collected underwater data, which is central to several national and European strategies for marine management, marine planning and blue growth.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is expected to run from mid-December 2018 to mid-August 2019. The 8 months are requierd to retrieve and consolidate the conclusions of the work in the industry groupings. In addition to the literature search that will last for most of the project time, an important feature is the organisation of three workshops (WS1, WS2 & WS3) to obtain support and acceptance from the industry. In connection with the final report and the last workshop, hopefully, the creation of groupings for further standardization work is created.
