SME research and innovation collaboration with UK and Germany

Important results from the project

The aim of the project is to increase international networks and create bilateral collaborations between Swedish, British and German SMEs, companies and research agencies. These objectives have been achieved by planning and conducting workshop trips to the UK and Germany together with Swedish SMEs. Where, new relationships and future collaborative projects have been discussed and started. Visits to various international test and demo facilities have also provided knowledge on how Swedish tests and demo facilities can be made better.

Expected long term effects

The result of the project was bigger international networks and more opportunities for international collaboration within the aviation field for Swedish companies and research agencies. Swedish SMEs is already now starting up some Project collaboration between aviation OEMs and research agiencies. Stronger ties have also been established between Swedish, British and German research agencies. It is also in the planning for the future, that a delegation of UK companies will visit Sweden and provide a greater chance for Swedish SMEs to create collaborative partners and customers.

Approach and implementation

The Project plan has been to do various events together with different aerospace clusters and institutes from Sweden, Germany and the U.K. that would suit the different actors. During the events different workshops have been set up so discussions between the companies can be started, which can later result in projects. Workshop activities have been e.g., speed dating and regular one-on-one meetings. Swedish SMEs also met major OEMs in aviation where they received support on how to become a potential aviation supplier.
