Important results from the project

Smart Housing Småland´s goal has been to develop innovation and competitiveness in the glass and wood sectors in the Småland regions. SHS has aimed to contribute to increased innovation and competitiveness in the designated geography through collaboration between actors in the innovation system. The goal and purpose are considered to have been achieved, among other things, through the creation of new research and knowledge environments and the increased interest in wood construction and living environments.

Expected long term effects

SHS has resulted in more than 200 projects carried out by actors from across the innovation system. More than 400 companies and organizations have been involved and more than 300 researchers have participated. The input in total have amounted to SEK 120 million, with a boost in projects and activities of almost SEK 400 million. Effects in the form of collaboration, dissemination and knowledge building can be seen in the emergence of clear research profiles, increase of research funding outside the initiative and regional initiatives.

Approach and implementation

During the period, SHS has stimulated interaction and meetings in Triple Helix in various ways. The focus has changed in the three phases and thus the organization and roles. The final phase was affected by external factors such as the pandemic, which made collaboration difficult. Instead, focus was on the next step: exit and handover. Changes in the world around us presented financial challenges for both the private and public sectors, which impaired the ability to carry SHS forward in full.
