Important results from the project

The aim of the project was to investigate the potential to create a service lab for public services, formulate how a service lab can be organized and operate, shaping a vision and plan for further work.

Expected long term effects

The project has resulted in the conclusion that there is good potential and needs to establish a regionally based service lab for the public sector. The work of the service lab will be facilitated and create better sustainable effects if the local authorities possess their own design based skills and a greater capacity for innovation. Further, the project identified that a regional service lab´s activities would be facilitated if a national service lab for public authorities would be established.

Approach and implementation

The project has been carried out through dialogues primarily in workshop format with distinct public actor groups in the region of Värmland. Input to the process have also come from study visits, information from similar initiatives in other countries, reports and experiences from the establishment of the County of Värmland initiative Experio Lab.
