Important results from the project
The project met its goal by coordinating and submitting the full proposal (step 2) to the first call by the European partnership FutureFoodS, engaging 13 partners from 12 countries. Beyond this, it expanded networks, built synergies with EU and national bioeconomy initiatives, and led to the submission of HORIZON application, which we will also coordinate. These results strengthen future research directions, funding opportunities, and Europe’s capacity in sustainable food and feed systems.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to strengthen Europe’s leadership in sustainable food and feed systems by building lasting research networks, advancing side-stream valorisation, and creating synergies with EU and national initiatives. The submission of HORIZON application AQUA-DIVERSA ensures continuity and impact, guiding future research, funding, and innovation pathways while supporting policy goals in the circular and blue bioeconomy.
Approach and implementation
The project followed the planned course: we coordinated the FutureFoodS proposal, holding weekly subgroup meetings with 13 partners from 12 countries and working with consultants. Activities were appropriate and the time plan was kept. Collaboration was effective, with strong partner engagement. No major external disruptions occurred, though the tight timeline required intensive coordination and flexibility to integrate diverse contributions.
