Project duration February 2020 - August 2022
Status Completed
Venture The strategic innovation programme for Production2030

Purpose and goal

SCARCEII has raised the digital maturity of a value chain within the automotive industry and increased awareness of the opportunities and challenges of digitization. This has been done through the development of a demonstrator (app made by AFRY), testing of the demonstrator (led by Siemens) and two pilots (automated kitting in the SII-lab and packaging handling via RFID at Parker Hannifin AB) as well as collaboration with students (thesis works) and environmental studies. The demonstrator developed between three institutions is available to the public.

Expected results and effects

The impact goals in the project were the following: 1) reduced delivery stock by 20%, 2) increased capacity 30%, 3) increased adaptability 20%, 4) increased process quality 15% and 5) reduction of manual handling, 6) reduction of lead time by 20%, 7) reduced energy use by 30% and reduced 8) climate impact by 50%. Through the developed app, thesis works and environmental study, we were able to demonstrate fulfillment of impact goals 1, 3-6 and 8. The thesis work has also supported the work within the work packages and the basis will lead to at least one publication.

Planned approach and implementation

Within the framework of the project, the companies in the project have collaborated closely and several project parties have both led and run the work together with the coordinator. The collaboration has been developing throughout the project, which is documented via Produktion2030´s articles, goal fulfillment and dissemination activities in the project (conference, technical workshops, etc.). The digital solutions tested are: automatic kitting, RFID implementation, digital copies and app development for cloud solutions.
