Venture Call for proposals - Scaling up the sustainable battery value chain
Call Scaling up for a sustainable battery value chain

Purpose and goal

The project aimed to make Swedish battery factories safer and more sustainable by developing technology (Vault Mobile) that captures hazardous micro-particle dust and recirculates valuable metals across the entire battery value chain. The goal was to demonstrate the technology in industrial settings and raise its maturity level (TRL 6–8), paving the way for widespread adoption in automated operations without production downtime.

Expected effects and result

Results show that the technology reduces dust-related workplace incidents, replaces the need for water-based cleaning in production, and enables recovery of critical metals that would otherwise be lost. Vault Mobile uses a dry, safe method that supports a cleaner, more circular and resource-efficient battery value chain – while improving working conditions, cutting costs, and reducing climate impact. The solution has strong potential to scale globally.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will be carried out through pilot testing in Swedish battery factories and recycling facilities, covering the full value chain. The technology will be developed in stages – from lab to industrial settings – with focus on optimizing function, safety, and data collection. Results will be evaluated with research and industry partners to achieve certification and a scalable solution.
