Purpose and goal

Robotdalen started in 2003 as an initiative aimed at creating regional growth in Mälardalen and Sweden by building an innovation system in robotics and automation. Robotdalen´s position has been strengthened over the years and has evolved into a enabler of commercial success of new ideas in robotics. Robotdalen is successful at regional, national and international level, but always with regional growth in focus.

Expected results and effects

Robotdalen has created a wide impact impact and continues to deliver concrete results. Robotdalen has contributed to 41 new products on the market since the beginning of 2003 and the creation of 28 new companies and 500 MSEK of R&D investments and productivity improvements in the companies in the region. In addition, Robotdalen plays an important role for companies and has contributed to both increased use of robots but also to increased innovation capacity in these companies. Robotdalen has also contributed to increased industrial relevance in both research and education.

Planned approach and implementation

Robotdalen´s 3 business areas / working methods: 1.Robotdalen performs R&D-assignments, focusing on groundbreaking concept development projects where robot automation is being developed in completely new areas. 2. Robotdalen works with innovation support through small step verification, based on the specific need for the innovation. 3. Productivity enhancing feasibility studies are conducted in manufacturing industries. The studies consist of an analysis of the automation need for the specific factory, improvement proposals based on the beed of robot automation.
