Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Build-r is developing the world´s first robotized system for automated drywall installation on large construction projects. The project aimed to build a demonstration prototype (a small scale functional prototype) of Build-rs robot. The prototype is a "minimum viable product", to convince stakeholders about the company´s ability to realize the idea industrially. Secondly, the project hold discussions with potential partners and technical academic experts to generate quick feedback and enable future collaborations.

Expected results and effects

Utilizing the small prototype developed and through discussions, the company earned trust of potential partners within the industry and academia to collaborate in taking the next step in realizing Build-rs idea of using a robotized system for drywall construction. During the development of the small prototype, and from discussions with technical experts, the company also identified technical difficulties and enabled technology within software and hardware products in the next step of product realization on an industrial scale.

Planned approach and implementation

Mainly responsible for the development of the prototype was Rasmus Pettersson, engineering physicist from Uppsala University. Fredrik Lofgren, robotics expert, active at Linkoping University acted as technical support and provided consultancy during the prototype realization. The project also hold discussions with several stakeholders and mainly responsible for this work was Andreas Soderberg, CEO. The Company, in addition to several meetings with partners, also exhibited the prototype at trade shows for a broader exposure to different stakeholders.
