Important results from the project

En Roadmap Energy for the use of graphene and other 2D materials for energy applications during the period 2020-2030 has been developed. The aim has been to highlight opportunities for utilizing graphene in the energy area to strengthen competitiveness and at the same time contribute to reaching the Swedish energy goals. The roadmap helps identify areas where Swedish industry is strong and includes recommendations for what SIO Grafen and other actors can do to contribute to the development.

Expected long term effects

In Roadmap energy, the recommendation is to prioritize five areas for the development of energy-related graphene use: electric vehicles; electricity storage and balancing of electricity grids: heat exchangers and other heat transfer; power transmission and distribution; and engines, generators and turbines. The report proposes targets for 2025 and 2030, and activities for different types of stakeholders, such as SIO Grafen, government and industry. Activities include, for example, dissemination of knowledge, network building and continued knowledge building.

Approach and implementation

The project implementation was based on a combination of literature studies and driect input from stakeholders. The literature study has mainly contributed with technical data about possible graphene applications in the energy field, their development status and potential. Involvement of stakeholders include two workshops, a survey, participation in the activities of SIO graphene and in a Flagship Graphenes conference and through direct contacts. In addition, a reference group with representatives from SIO Graphene actively followed and contributed throughout the project.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
