Important results from the project
Sepsis has a high mortality rate, therefore an efficient detection and timely treatment are a main focus in the clinic and research.SEMPL is a safe, efficient, and significant improvement to the current gold standard in blood sampling for sepsis diagnosis.
Expected long term effects
There has been a large focus on improving the diagnostics of sepsis in the laboratory. There has been less of a focus on the health care professional taking the sample even though it is one of the most flawed steps, as it is crucial and decisive for the outcome. After developing SEMPL as a novel tool for health care professionals there will be no fluctuation in the sample which provides the best diagnostic and care possible.
Approach and implementation
We are planning to collect more clinical data to then implement SEMPL in the daily routine of health care professionals worldwide. We are currently exploring different business models to achieve this aim.
