Important results from the project
Yes, the goals were met. Re:Think Youth Lab has developed a methodology for involving young people in future visions and conducted nine workshops with about fourty youth with positive results. The project has raised young people´s perspectives in the green transition and contributed to increased understanding of how young people can contribute to sustainable social development among decision-makers. A creative, inclusive and innovative project with a strong impact and lessons for the future.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to have long-term effects such as increased inclusion in Luleå´s green transition and planning. More young and underrepresented groups can have their say. More perspectives can lead to better municipal processes and decisions, reduce the risk of bad investments and increase the possibility of creating a place that promotes community and social sustainability, which also strengthens Luleå´s resilience. Luleå will become a city where young people want to live and work.
Approach and implementation
Re:Think Youth Lab was implemented through nine creative workshops where youth explored future scenarios for Luleå 2040 using speculative design. Good and relevant activities. Difficult recruiting young people. The timeplan was met. The project developed a method to involve young people in the green transition. A range of expertise within the project team, collaborations with various actors, a flexible working method and strong support from the municipality were central parts of the success.
