Purpose and goal

The vision for the research agenda: Secure global supply chains through innovative packaging design is that Sweden in 2025 will be a hub for world-class research, innovation, entrepreneurship and business within the secure and sustainable product sourcing. The agenda is expected to lead to the following effect target: High-tech innovative packaging solutions Safe products and secure product sourcing Competitive packaging industry in Sweden Strengthened competitiveness of the Swedish industry World-leading research through collaboration between academia and industry

Results and expected effects

A summary of results of workshops and interviews, shows that there are four main areas and two support areas that industry finds to be of particular importance and interest to improve on both long and short term. The main areas are: 1. Sustainability and resource efficiency 2. Safety and security 3. Value adding packaging 4. Public Opinion and communication New possibilities to improve and evolve is given, provided that its actors can interact effectively. Two support areas have therefor been identified: Interaction Macro analysis

Approach and implementation

The work has been led by Packbridge, in cooperation with Packaging Logistics and LU Open at Lund University. Industry players have been invited to participate in one of two workshops in the fall of 2014. Those who have not had the opportunity to participate have been interviewed over telephone. Workshops and interviews have been conducted together with a process manager from LU Open Innovation Center, at the University of Lund. Project management from Packbridge and Lund University put everything together and sent it out to all the workshop participants for control and feedback.
