Important results from the project
Malmö University was granted an innovation office in the regulation letter 2019 and during the current period has been awarded a total of SEK 2.1M in VFT. In the past, Malmö University innovation has been part of Innovationskontor Syd under the coordination of LU Innovation. At Mau innovation, we work to make transfers on campus to increase understanding of our government mission at Mau. We work closely with research projects in order to identify knowledge assets for utilization. Regarding our work with student ideas, we have an agreement with Drivhuset Malmö.
Expected long term effects
Malmö University received 98 new ideas, one of which was VFT+. Out of 9 ideas divided into 3 studs. (1 woman and 2 men) and 6 researchers with a 50/50 gender distribution. About 30% of the allocations have been related to issues surrounding the identification, handling and securing of intellectual property rights. During the period, Mau Holding AB invested in one of the verified, incorporated ideas. This project, started by a female student in 2019, has been verified in four rounds before investment by Mau holding. More projects are in the preparation phase for investment by Mau Holding.
Approach and implementation
We have worked with a VFT panel consisting of external actors in the Skåne innovation system for funding + SEK 75,000. The VFT panel has met once a month and, together with the innovation advisors and the head of Mau innovation, reviewed current projects for verification. The role of the external actors has been advisory. The head of Mau innovation makes the formal decision on the award. Amounts lower than SEK 75,000 as a first contribution are taken by the head of Mau innovation after drawing the responsible innovation advisor.
