Important results from the project
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The overall purpose of REPLACE is to identify and evaluate new possible storage sites in the community to enable a circular economy. The goal is: 1) to identify possible places that are not used as it is today 2) analyze business models and logistics systems that can be used 3) to propose a set of what storage sites can look like in terms of design, security, legal requirements and IT. Through brainstorming, we have identified possible storage locations, we have then evaluated these. In addition, we have also proposed business models and logistics systems.
Expected long term effects
- There is a lot of unused space both in cities and in the countryside, but it is difficult to find out how much. - It is important to have flexibility regarding storage locations. It can be lead time requirements, storage locations and safety levels. Different materials have different requirements. - It is important that potential cooperation partners can meet digitally. - Some obstacles must be removed, e.g. regarding permits for storage of waste. - The pandemic has shown that it is possible to find innovative storage solutions. We think it´s important to use this way of thinking ahead.
Approach and implementation
The structure with the work packages worked well, but the packages were linked to each other. We did not think it was a problem, as the work was done closely together. In the beginning, a literature and internet search was done. On the first try, we did not get many search results, but then better keywords were found. To find possible places, we used workshops with brainstorming. It was a good way to work, it could have been interesting to arrange another workshop and invite external participants. The interviews with organizations worked well and we also received good tips on people to contact.
