Reference number
Coordinator Retenua AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 222 482
Project duration May 2016 - August 2016
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project was to bring out the next generation of safety systems to prevent accident between human workers and work machines at industrial sites. The goal was to build a complete unit with integrated sensing and computational capacity. This unit is then to be evaluated by potential costumers using their machinery at their sites. During the project a new prototype which in addition to detecting human workers wearing safety garments also can detect generic obstacles.

Expected results and effects

The future key result of the project is to be able utilize the new camera unit in order to develop a series of test units for interested potential partners. The estimated effects is here on a longer perspective which opens up to future financing possibilities and cooperation to bring out this product to the market and with a distinct focus on the end user requirements.

Planned approach and implementation

A large portion of the project work involved both hardware and software development which typically is more time consuming than expected. In order to keep a continuous development through out the project two work packages were run in parallel. This enabled the utilization of the resources when parts of the development where put on hold due to delays in the delivery of hardware components. This approach allowed more flexibility in allocating resources throughout the project. Worth mentioning is that far more hour has been spent on the project compared to the estimated ones.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
