Coordinator Kriminalvården - KRIMINALVÅRDENS HUVUDKONTOR OCH TPT
Funding from Vinnova SEK 798 750
Project duration July 2017 - May 2018
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose has been to complete the application for probation clients, Utsikt (View), developed in a previous project so that it is fully linked to the Prison and Probation system. The goal is to offer clients under supervision, daily 10,000 individuals, support for managing scheduled and mandatory meetings with probation officers, as well as exercises for behavioral change and, in the longer term, reduce the risk of recidivism.

Expected results and effects

The outcome is a complete application, Utsikt (View), which includes multiple features; a schedule linked to the prison system, CBT exercises, direct numbers to important social functions, ability to upload your own photos, photograph and save images of whiteboard- information so it is linked to a specific meeting, relaxation exercises, a diary with registration of daily mood and feelings. All features are developed to reduce the risk of recidivism and adapted to people with reading and writing difficulties as well as attention issues. Utsikt has been experienced as user-friendly.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has been run by a project manager and project team with staff from the probation department and IT as well as a steering group consisting of unit managers. The project is the first of its kind with, external mobile phones that connect to the prison and probation infrastructure via the Internet, which has posed major challenges for the organization in terms of competence, coordination, resources and security. The project has paved the way for future developments of similar types and contributed with important experiences, but has become twice as expensive as the planned budget.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
