Purpose and goal
The goal is to establish Quantum-Secure Sweden, a national excellence cluster that positions Sweden as a global leader in Quantum Communication and deployment. Building on Sweden´s strengths in quantum physics, photonics, telecoms and information security, the cluster will safeguard critical systems and boost competitiveness via robust tech, testbeds/innovation platforms and cross-sector collaboration, while addressing trust, privacy, responsible innovation and investing in skills via education.
Expected effects and result
The 6-months planning project will lay foundations for a national quantum communication cluster, outlining Sweden´s shared strategic vision, roadmap and collaboration model. It will deliver a capability matrix and infrastructure gap analysis, set milestones, identify testbeds and innovation paths, and align with EU initiatives. We expect to build stronger digital resilience, faster commercialization and startup growth, new products/exports, skills pipeline and reinforced Nordic cooperation.
Planned approach and implementation
From October to March, the project will be executed through five work packages overseen by a steering committee and appointed WP leads. Following the kickoff, a two-day networking workshop, sector-specific meetings (academia, industry, SMEs, authorities) and two cross-sector sessions will be held. Implementation includes structured surveys, interviews and technical scoping. The steering committee will meet regularly to manage risk and ensure alignment with EuroQCI and Vinnova reporting.
