Call Visions for world-leading research and innovation in strategic technology areas

Purpose and goal

To create Swedish competitiveness, a Swedish alliance has been formed between some of the largest industry players and research institutes, to create a Nordic ´powerhouse´ in quantum technology. Through world-leading innovation and rapid adaptation of new technologies, we are creating a Sweden for the future. Project goals: • A roadmap to implement the vision and mission. • A consolidated team to implement the roadmap. • Broad agreement and commitment from Nordic actors.

Expected effects and result

Our long-term objective: • By 2035, the Nordic region will surpass all other regions in the world in producing unicorns (unicorns per capita). • The Nordic way of working has resulted in a large net inflow of business start-ups in the region. • Nordic universities are established as world leaders in quantum technologies. • Majority of global talent has chosen to stay in the region.

Planned approach and implementation

To realize this vision, we will gather the actors needed to accelerate innovation over the next six months, from academia, to start-ups and incubators to institutes and industry. We have already received positive feedback from several of these actors, both Swedish and Nordic. We have also started talking to other clusters of excellence that are applying in quantum technology as we see that a lot of work will be put into collaboration, and then building a center together.
