Purpose and goal
The project has achieved its scientific and career development objectives, however, with slight modifications. Scientific objectives were related to the development of innovative methods to be applied in the production of less hygroscopic wood-panels through (a) the study of innovative hydrophobic formulations and (b) modification of sustainable adhesives to increase their hydrophobicity. The career development objectives were involved the trainings to improve my complementary skills such as project management, supervision of postgraduate students, and etc.
Expected results and effects
The project results have disseminated to the academic and industrial communities by several scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals (7 articles) and high valued International conferences conference (3 presentations). I acquired training on research proposal writing for fund raising with the support of my mentor at LnU, which resulted at 2 granted projects (Formas and Lantmännen foundation), as co-applicant, and 1 granted project (Formas) as a main applicant. I am co-supervising 3 PhD students from LnU and 1 from Tehran University.
Planned approach and implementation
The project was smoothly implemented with the support of my mentor at LnU. Beside of academia, my mentor (Prof. Adamopoulos) also facilitated my career development with Swedish industry to further support my research objectives. It was a great advantageous to be able to travel between the home (University of Göttingen) and host (LnU) organizations, which allowed me to actively participate in research and education at both places. I established valuable connections with Basque Country University, Spain, and with Tehran University, Iran, for further developing my research goals.
