Important results from the project
The project´s main purpose and goal was to establish at least one test field/field trial at appropriate biological treatment plant where manufacturers / contractors would account for material and placing costs. This goal has been met as a test field was placed in August 2015 at the Tekniska verken biogas plant in Linköping.
Expected long term effects
The test field was placed on a concrete floor slab that is constantly exposed to leachate from chemically aggressive food waste. The slab is a total of 160 square meters and has now been provided with two different types of protection coating system, one plasic resin based and one bitumen-based. The plant owner has by this project received a total renovation of the current concrete slab which will be followed up in cooperation with the plant owner and relevant materials manufacturers / contractors. The field test has been documented in a report (see Annex).
Approach and implementation
The project began with a series of visits to different plants to find suitable field test objects. This took longer than expected. The actual test installation was conducted during one week in August 2015 with great response and perfect timing. The leachate water was analyzed.
