Important results from the project
The pilot study aimed at further defining XQuality and investigating Karolinska University Hospital´s options as a partner in the development and future use of XQuality. The pilot study has defined XQuality, identified the needs of radiological departments and XQuality´s degree of innovation has been established through market research. Different procurement strategies have been evaluated and a challenge to the market has been formulated. Furthermore, the pilot study creates opportunities for other projects to implement effective innovational procurements.
Expected long term effects
The foremost result from the pilot study is a clear implementation plan containing proposals for a procurement strategy for the development of the innovation XQuality. The expected effects are a continuation of the work surrounding XQuality, starting with a pre-commercial procurement in parallel with internal development. The pilot study and its methods for innovation procurement is expected to be the basis for other projects at the Innovation Centre at the Karolinska University Hospital, but also for the procurement of medical technical equipment at the newly built hospital, NKS
Approach and implementation
The work method for the pilot study consisted of workshops and an activity plan with seven stages. The pilot study had a project organization including a constructive management team for decision-making purposes. When evaluating the pilot study, work was conducted with a functioning activity plan coupled with a narrow time schedule. The pilot study´s foremost challenge was involving clinical staff, as many coworkers participate in the planning of the New Karolinska.
