Purpose and goal

The objective of the feasibility study was to identify the market need, study the economic and technical aspects, as well as create an understanding for the consenting processes related to a potential test site. The feasibility study provides a broad overview and assessment of the possibilities of building a test site, and how this might promote the ocean energy sector in Sweden in the long term. Results and expected effects

The Swedish development companies acknowledge that they need a Swedish testbed in order to develop commercial products. Today, companies are planning to go to testareas abroad which will lead to the depletion of innovation and export possibilities for Sweden in the sector of marine energy. The market research shows that we have the opportunity to create a unique area in renewable energy together with Islandsberg for testing both in floating wind, wave energy and other marine applications. Grid connection will be the largest investment and requires long-term planning.
