Important results from the project

The project aimed to create a wider leisure offer for young people in rural areas and test a new form of employment to facilitate cooperation in places with geographical and demographic challenges. With several established associations and project led activities in Bjuv and Östra Göinge, we succeeded in offering a wider leisure offer through local games and sports associations. We have further disseminated the projects lessons by producing a tutorial and held two seminars about its content.

Expected long term effects

The expected effects are that young people in Bjuv and Östra Göinge have access to meaningful leisure time through a wider choice of activities and associations. The change is based on the tools developed for cooperation in rural areas, with the expectation that civil society has improved chances of establishing itself. Together with a strengthened leadership among young people, we also see the opportunity for youth-initiated proposals to influence local decisions about their leisure time.

Approach and implementation

By mapping the local associations and identifying young people´s wishes for activities with idea workshops, the conditions were created to target and market Sverok and the Skolidrottsförbundet i Skånes association form to the target group, as well as lead activities in newly started associations. The idea workshops and Hackathon also created the opportunity for the Youth 2030 Movement to start political advocacy work together with young leaders in Bjuv.
