Purpose and goal

The aim of this pilotproject has been to develope and actively carry out actions in a more complex model for development of SME´s based on a sturcture called Innovationschecks. In the model, coordination of relevant competences in the reserach institutes connected to the demands of the SME are combined with a student examination thesis at KTH . The main goal has been to outline an operative model where the coordination between affected organizations and persons will be set as a model to use.

Results and expected effects

10 Innovationschecks to SME has been activated, och 12 students have been involved in examinations thesis. - a model has been outlined between the involved parties - among the SME´s, new contacts within the research institutes have been established - about 50% of SME´s says the development effort now are ready for the market - 80% are satisfied with the student thesis and have achieve new university contacts The pilotproject suggests the model to be used in similar regional context with other universities/colleges in collabortion with IUC and RISE.

Approach and implementation

The model has step-by-step been outlined consisting of a collaborative group and the use of a modified structure of the IUC 8-step model for Innovationschecks. IUC has identyfied and selected the SME´s while the Instituts have identyfied relevant internal competence to meet the demands of the SME´s. KTH have placed ad´s adressed to students interesting in examination thesis. The students have, togehter with academic teacher been connected to the affected SME.. The model have step-by step been improved and tested. An overall timeschedule for similar efforts has also been described.
