Important results from the project
Objective for the project was to ensure that a larger number of Swedish and Canadian companies could meet and discuss collaborations across borders and lead to future project within the forest industry in particular. This also happened and we at RISE consider the project very successful.
Expected long term effects
Participation in both organizing before and actively participating in the event resulted in a greater number of contacts with Canadian and Swedish industry in research-related topics specific to the forest industry. These will now be processed during the remainder of 2019 and in 2020 and then hopefully lead to greater and broader cooperation between Canada and Sweden in research and development. In particular, we have initiated cross project cooperation talks with FP Innovations, our Canadian counterpart.
Approach and implementation
The arrangement as such was good, well thought out and worked well overall. What should have given even more interest and participation from both countries´ industries is a better time factor - it was simply a little too bad for some of the larger Swedish and the Canadian players to decide to come.
