Optimize KOS for migraine treatment
Purpose and goal
Chordate currently has a treatment for non-allergic rhinitis using a method based on so-called Kinetic Oscillation Stimulation (KOS), a unique new neurostimulation method that emits gentle low frequency vibration in the nasal cavities. In this project we will develop the Chordate method for prophylactic treatment of migraine. We plan to conduct a clinical study in 80 patients, either treated with KOS or placebo (inactive treatment) in chronic migraine.
Expected results and effects
Hopefully we can show that the Chordate method can show preventive effect on migraine by decreasing number of head-ache days and / or decrease pain in comparison to inactive treatment.
Planned approach and implementation
This clinical study in approx 80 patients will be conducted at three specialist clinics in Germany where patients diagnosed with chronic migraine will be treated and followed-up by migraine specialists. As base for the efficacy analysis, electronic diary cards will be used by patients daily. A local contract reasearch organisation will be responsible for the conduct of the study, communication with authorities and quality control.
