Purpose and goal

Increased benefits for citizens, businesses and visitors The overall purpose and benefits of open data and the starting point under the PSI Directive is to: - Creating transparency and participation - it will be easier for individuals to search for specific information and analyze it on its own merits - Power quality work - has positive effects on the administration´s internal work - Improve conditions for growth - PSI Act, aims to promote the development of an information market.

Results and expected effects

Results - some key figures from the competition: 5839 unique visitors to the competitions page 365 registered participants 93 submissions 292 Tweets. That means twice as many contributions were compared to the competition in 2012 and the expected outcome for Open Stockholm Award 2014 has been achieved.

Approach and implementation

Summary of lessons learned and highlights Very positive response to the contest site The prize money was not the main attraction, but rather the possibility of implementing an innovation / idea Participants were attracted by the fact it was a fun competition and it was a great way to make new contacts Participants´ knowledge of the city of Stockholm and open data have increased The biggest reason to registered participants not submitted entries were time constraints Contributions were received from 14 different countries.
