Important results from the project

Projektet Notysing - interactive music learning, is about developing the app Notysing for music learning at a distance, has been successfully implemented in collaboration between Doremir Music Research and Kungl Musikhögskolan in Stockholm. The app is publically available at www.notysing.com, and is used in music teaching both in Sweden and abroad. Competence tests and technology for assisting students with special needs have been developed, with automatic follow-up of results and the system has been tested in music teaching etc. have been developed.

Expected long term effects

Notysing consists of a cross-platform app, with digital resources in the form of a web portal for teachers, which is currently available in Swedish and English. The app has been tested in relevant music pedagogical contexts reported at music pedagogical conferences and the app has attracted international attention, e.g. as a finalist in Edtech Awards. Competence tests have been tested in digital entrance exams for Kungl Musikhögskolan. Notysing can contribute to the democratization of musical literacy and to change music teaching globally.

Approach and implementation

The project has been carried out in close collaboration and dialogue between Kungl Musikhögskolan, under the leadership of senior lecturer Anna Backman Bister and Doremir Music Research under the leadership of product manager Johan Ronström. Coordinator for the project has been Professor Sven Ahlbäck. The work has been based on needs specification, technology and application has been developed by Doremir Music Research in continuous dialogue with Kungl Musikhögskolan and both internal and external tests have been performed by Kungl Musikhögskolan with support from Doremir.
