Project duration May 2015 - June 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim of the project was to show open data´s benefits for people in Gothenburg and businesses. The project also wanted to show the open data Gothenburg City has been and what impact they have on society digitization. This was done by an event during a full day in the municipal facilities in Gothenburg, where it was free for Gothenburgers to come and check out the interesting seminars linked to the topic or participate in the hackthon. Despite the short notice, the event was attended by about 130 people during the day, including webcasts and about 15 in the hackathon.

Results and expected effects

The goal was to get at least 100 participants to come to the day, and although short advertising time, we managed to get about 130 participants, which the project is very pleased with! The breakdown of participants was: -30 physically at the seminars, -86 via our live-streaming on Youtube of the seminars, -15 participant in hackathonet. The day has also been a spread in the media and in social media, with articles in GP and the 6th most used hashtag during the day.

Approach and implementation

Thanks to the experience from the Social Media Club GBG and with support from the City of Gothenburg and SP, the day could be carried out in a good and professional manner. The collaboration went well and new joint projects may come in the future. Before the day there were facebook groups for those who would arrange for the Nordic Open Data Week, which was a good support and the organizers could help each other and spread the word about each other´s event. There was also support by Vinnova which was good.
