Call | SIP InfraSweden - autumn 2022: Adapting the transport infrastructure to meet climate change |
Purpose and goal
The purpose of the project is to contribute to more sustainable planning with a focus on improved climate adaptation of transport infrastructure in and around cities through a pilot study focusing on processes and tools for integrating climate adaptation in infrastructure planning . This is done through a case study with Trelleborgs municipality, where 1) organization and competence in planning processes and 2) a tool to evaluate and analyze possible climate adaptation measures are explored. The long-term goal is scaling up the knowledge and tools explored in the project.
Expected results and effects
The expected result is an identification of the need for knowledge and competence among different stakeholders in order to strengthen the climate adaptation perspective in the planning of transport infrastructure. This will be done in two ways: 1) Through a case study with Trelleborg municipality and 2) Through a number of workshops with the project´s reference group. The long-term result of the project is to lay the foundation for a larger research and innovation project where knowledge gained in the preliminary study can be developed and implemented with more stakeholders.
Planned approach and implementation
The project´s main activities are carried out as a case study with Trelleborgs municipality. One part focuses on existing planning processes and conditions for strengthening the municipality´s climate adaptation work. In the second part, a prototype of a planning tool, Sulri, is tested on one or more climate adaptation measures in the municipality in order to compare, evaluate and improve the tool. A reference group will contribute with knowledge and insights from other organizations.
