Purpose and goal
A national organization to coordinate and promote communication and collaboration is funded. Trough this new organization "Makers of Sweden", it will be easier for the people wanting to start new makerspaces to get the right contacts, guidelines and information that they need. We have also interviewed some of the largest makerspaces in Sweden very comprehensively and published the answers as open data.
Expected results and effects
Since the National organization still is pretty new it is hard to predict the long term effects, but we expect so see a growth in the number of Swedish makerspaces due to a better spread of information about how to start a makerspace and what models that works. We have already seen a better communication since a multitude of common communication medias for Swedish makers and makerspaces has been created during the project.
Planned approach and implementation
It took considerably longer than we expected to create the foundations of a national organization, and the discussions around how such best-organized, who should be members and how it can best support the makers of sweden was very extensive. We are very happy to have spent this time and expect that we have laid the foundation for a very long-lived organization.
