Important results from the project
One of the project´s central aims has been to establish a national working committee for Innovation and industry collaboration, and then together develop collaboration models for GMS adapted for different forms of collaboration. During the project, we have not fully reached the goal, but still taken important steps for a long-term work by establishing a dedicated working committee coordinated by the universities´ collaboration offices in Lund and Uppsala, and with representation from people involved in GMS various diagnostic areas, technical work packages and management team.
Expected long term effects
One objective has been to define standardized collaboration models for industry collaboration. This work will continue in the new working committee for Innovation and business collaboration and will take into account the needs that exist in different parts of GMS and in different types of business collaboration. There is a broad interest from the industry and GMS to identify standardized models for this collaboration to accelerate the introduction of precision medicine in Sweden. Work is underway to develop a collaboration agreement with the four industry organizations.
Approach and implementation
The basis for a working committee for collaboration with the industry has been taken, and the work will continue under the leadership of the Uppsala and Lund collaboration offices as part of the GMS Genomförande project. GMS is actively involved in this work through the diagnostic and technology work packages. An initial comparative study of other national initiatives and their strategies for industrial collaboration has been carried out. Due to the prevailing covid-19 situation, it has not been possible to conduct workshops; work has instead been done in smaller forums.
