Purpose and goal

The purpose of this project was to investigate the market potential of a machine for automatic tiling in medium-sized premises, ie about 50-500 sqm. There is a need to both reduce costs and reduce strenous manual work. Automating teh tiling process would meet these needs, but the demands for increased efficiency, ease of use and degree of automation are very high. Therefore, a deeper technical analysis is needed to assess whether the machine requirements can be met with reasonable development and manufacturing costs.

Expected results and effects

An expected effect of the project was that the construction industry´s interest in our robot solutions would increase. This has been met and there is an interest in our vision and technology. Through the project, new opportunities for collaboration with major construction firms have been opened with the purpose to further analyze if new technology within AI and robotics can be used to increase productivity and reduce strenous manual work within the construction industry.

Planned approach and implementation

Through several interviews with major construction companies, tiling contractors, industry organizations, robot manufacturers and machine manufacturers, data has been collected to analyze the market potential in this machine. The information has been processed and the result can be used as a guidance for future investments and work.
